From The "Frontier Fortress" To The "Center Of The Land":the Changing Image Of Lanzhou During The Modern Era

It is an important period for the Chinese nation to re-examine the northwest,to develop the northwest and to locate the northwest,in modern times.Lanzhou,as one of the most important in the northwest,has undergone a great change in the main body image in modern times,which has become a symbol of the people in the process of re cognition of the northwest.This paper is based on the data of the northwest travel notes and other information,and study on the people's image of Lanzhou in different stages and different regions during the modern era,and hope it will help to understand the process of modern people to re-cognition of the northwest and the advance of the Western Development.From the Western Han dynasty to early Q ing dynasty,although there are many changes in the national territory,Lanzhou has been in the image of a "frontier" town in the minds of people.After the middle period of qing dynasty,Lanzhou's image changed from a "frontier" town to the "throat" town in hinterland,and this image has been established in the late Q ing period,and forming a potential "Lanzhou center view".In the early years of the Republic of C hina,Sun Yat-sen put forward the idea of " continental capital ",this idea was successfully created with the development of movement of the Northwest development,and reached a climax until the war of "capital controversy" in later stage of the Anti-Japanese War.Lanzhou has realized the main image change from the "frontier" to "land".The city image change of Lanzhou in modern time,with the driving factors both from e xternal at the change of the national territory and the consciousness awakening of national,frontier and national,which were highly consistent during the context of modern complex context,eventually led to the huge changes of Lanzhou city image.In foreigners' eyes,the image of Lanzhou is relatively stable and Lanzhou is a modern "glamour" capital,the fortressed walls,busy streets,numerous nationalities,lively atmosphere and all in progress.At the same time,they are also concerned about the poverty side of Lanzhou in the modern time.From the five elements--roads,border,regionals,nodes,and markers,identified that a three-tier border and markers are more concentrated,and the overall image in a higher degree in modern times and this space elements has great influence to the modern C hinese and foreign people of lanzhou image shape.
