This paper tries to analyze the foreign images in the Ming Dynasty by using the theories and methods of imigology in comparative literature.According to the characteristics of foreign images,explore the way how the novelist represent and imagine the foreign country through the literature in the Ming Dynasty,further understand the chinese attitudes to foreign country in a definite period of history,as well as to grasp the national cultural psychology and self national images behind the exotic images.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter outlines the track of the evolution of the foreign images description from the pre-qin to the Ming Dynasty.The second chapter sums up the characteristics of the foreign images with specific examples in novels.The third chapter discusses the cultural,religious,social and psychological reasons behind the foreign images.The forth chapter reflects the self national images behind the foreign images,further reveals people's anxious and the sense of superiority in the mode of "The Order of China and The Inferior Foreigners",which help us define self national images better. |
