Study On Lyotard’s Postmodernism Philosophy

As postmodernism’s groundbreaking character,Lyotard tries "to grasp the era through thinking",making a positive response,critical reflection and very forward-looking predicts toward its living post-industrial society.He analyses profoundly the various challenges facing narrative and scientific knowledge and puts forward their own unique views and ideas on how they break through these difficulties in the post-modern society.Meanwhile,his theory of art is the Extension of its basic theories of knowledge in the arts and the results or the products objectively examined the practice of art based on his philosophical position on postmodernism.The first chapter briefly describes the purpose and significance,research status,research methods and innovations.The second chapter discusses the Lyotard’s reflections of "Modernity",the fuzzy interpretation on the "post-modern" and the understanding of the the post-modern’s characteristics.The third chapter,"Lyotard postmodernism theory of knowledge" as the title,followed by elaborate narrative theory of knowledge,scientific knowledge and theoretical knowledge to legitimize the Way.The fourth chapter analyzes Lyotard’ s post-modernist art theory,trying to present a comprehensive early and late Lyotard’s thinking and understanding of the arts.Chapter V will evaluate dialectically Lyotard’ s postmodernism philosophy and discusses its inherent positive values,reveal its problems.
