A Research On The Application Of Chinese Elements In The Modern Dance Drama The Conqueror

Willy Tsao,a famous Chinese dancer,is the important pushing hands and key person to the development of Chinese modern dance.During the 40 years' dancing,he has created a large number of modern dance works rich in Chinese elements,among which the Conqueror is the most representative one.This thesis researches on Willy Tsao's modern dance drama the Conqueror to summarize producing experience from the drama analysis,taking the application of Chinese elements as the study entry point.And appropriate opinions and advice will be given from choreography skills for the development of current modern dance producing.The thesis consists of introduction and three chapters.The introduction part contains research background,research significance,literature review and specific research methods.In the first chapter,the overview of the Conqueror will be elaborated with focus on analyzing the dancer's producing ideas.In the second chapter,with the help of related knowledge in advertisement design,how Chinese elements are specifically utilized in the drama will be analyzed according to related choreography theories.In the third chapter,through analyzing Chinese elements in the Conqueror,different enlightenments of bringing Chinese elements into modern dance creation will be concluded,that is,the theoretical foundation of creating such a type of dance works will be summarized from creation motive,applied techniques and creation principles.At last,the author will briefly summarize research results in the conclusion part.
