Being the core of family, parental relationship plays an important role in the regular family function,as well as lays profound influence on youths’ psychological development process.Peer relationship is a basic element for adolescents to develop their sociability. On one hand it meet youth people’s need to socialize with other people,on the other hand,it provides the sense of security and support for them in social activities.Favorable peer relationship is good for adolescents’ development of self-concepts and that of characters. The relationship between interparental conflict and children’s peer relationship has been researched already, while it is still unknown whether this relationship can be applied to youth people.Subjecting 464 middle school students from two middle schools in Wuhan, this study aims to investigate whether interparental conflict correlates with adolescents’ peer relationship significantly, and if parent-child relation plays a role between interparental conflict and adolescents’ peer relationship. Conclusions are as follows:(1)Significant differences exist between adolescent boys and girls in self-connection and conflict content:adolescent boys are more inclined to attribute the cause of interparental conflict to themselves, and are more likely to connect themselves with the conflict contents than their female counterparts.(2)The perception of parent conflict differs obviously between the only child and the non-only child. The difference also exits in urban and rural adolescents, and in different grades.(3)Adolescents tend to be more intimate with their mothers than with their fathers.Adolescent girls show more intimacy to their mothers than boys, while there is no difference between their intimacies with their fathers.(4)Youth people’s parent-child relations differ obviously between the only child and the non-only child. The difference also exits in urban and rural adolescent, and in different grades.(5)Adolescents,peer relations differ obviously between genders, only child and non-only child, urban and rural adolescent and different grades.(6)There is significant positive correlation between interparental conflict and parent-child relation, while significant negative correlation exits between interparental conflict and adolescents’ peer relationship, the correlation between peer relationship and parent-child relation is a negative one,too.(7)Parent-child relation plays the mediating role between adolescents’ perception of interparental conflict and their peer relationship.
