| The task-based language teaching(TBLT)was put forward on the basis of lots of practice and theories by some linguists in the 1980s,which exerted important influence on teaching modes.With "learning by doing" as its core theory,the TBLT method can significantly cultivate the students’ practical English abilities.Therefore,in 2001,the“National English Curriculum Standards”was issued by the National Ministry of Education,which explicitly proposed that the task-based language teaching method should be implemented by teachers in English teaching.Under the guidance of the task-based language teaching,the students’ English knowledge acquired in class can be transformed into the practical application abilities in social life.English teaching in rural middle schools has its own characteristics,therefore the application of the task-based language teaching in rural middle schools is a project worthy our concern.This thesis is based on the theory of Willis’s task-based language teaching(TBLT),and the research was focused on three questions:What is the current situation of TBLT implemented in English teaching in rural middle schools such as Huangj in Middle School in county Zhashui?Can TBLT be implemented in English teaching in Huangjin Middle School in county Zhashui?Which learning abilities can be improved by TBLT?In the study,the empirical research method was adopted.Huangj in Middle School in county Zhashui was chosen to do the experiment.The research instruments include questionnaires,interviews,observation,pre-test and post-test.The first question was investigated with questionnaires and interviews to 110 students and 32 teachers in the school.Based on the results of investigation,the teaching plan was designed.Two classes(one is EC and the other is CC)were chosen as the research subjects.An 18-week TBLT experiment was carried out in experimental class.After nine weeks application of TBLT,an interview was given to 6 students at different English level to know their attitude toward TBLT.The pre-test and post-test were used to find out the difference between EC and CC.The research results are:Teachers in Huangjin Middle School in county Zhashui haven’t applied TBLT because of various reasons;The students have positive attitude toward TBLT,TBLT can be implemented in Huangjin Middle School in county Zhashui;TBLT can develop students’ English abilities,especially their listening and reading abilities. |
