Background:In recent years, the incidence of functional constipation is increasing gradually.Currently, laxatives and dietary adjustment are commonly used to treat constipation, but the above treatment methods are ineffective for some patients.Even long-term use of laxatives can easily lead to intestinal flora disorder and aggravate the disease.Studies have found that intestinal flora imbalance is closely related to the occurrence of functional constipation.Fecal microbiota transplantation transfers the functional flora from the feces of healthy people to the intestines of patients in a suitable way in order to rebuild the intestinal flora imbalance as well as restore intestinal dynamics, and relieve the symptoms of functional constipation effectively. Objective:To understand the cognition and attitude of the patients with functional constipation to fecal microbiota transplantation in the northwest area of Hubei Province, and to provide some suggestions for the popularization of this technique and the treatment of functional constipation with fecal microbiota transplantation. Methods:In this survey, from May 2018 to December 2019,self-designed questionnaire and the psychological scale was used by meetings with patients having functional constipation in both outpatient as well as inpatient departments of three general hospitals in northwest area of Hubei Province, which are Taihe Hospital,People's Hospita and Dongfeng General Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine, counted according to their gender, age, education level, occupation, length of course, duration of disease and whether there was any mental illness.Results:1.In this survey,a total of 462 patients with functional constipation were investigated, and most patients are unknow to FMT(with a cognitive score of0.58±1.45).52.16% of patients were willing to learn about FMT actively among them,27.06% of patients with functional constipation were indifferent,and20.78% of patients did not want to learn about FMT.2.83.33% of the patients were willing to accept FMT,while 16.67%rejected it.Statistically significant differences were found in FMT attitude among patientswith functional constipation of gender, age, duration of disease and mental health(all P<0.05).3.Logistic regression analysis illustrated that women(OR=0.41,95%CI=0.23?0.73,P<0.05),the young people(OR=10.73,95%CI=3.5?32.44,P<0.05),patients with disease duration of six months to one and a half years(OR=0.16,95%CI=0.08?0.31,P<0.05)and patients with mental illness(OR=4.08,95%CI=2.26?7.36,P<0.05)were more willing to accept FMT.4.About 64.3% of patients were more likely to choose oral capsule,23.8%chose colonoscopy, and only 11.9% chose nasogastric tube.5.Regarding the choice in treatment of functional constipation, statistically significant differences were found in gender, age, education level, length of the course of the disease, mental health status(all P<0.05).Patients who are male, have a bachelor's degree or above, have the disease duration of six months to one and a half years, and suffer from mental illness are more likely to choose FMT as the treatment.6.Regarding donor selection,42% of patients prefer to choose feces from relatives,30% choose friends as donors,22% are willing to trust doctors' recommendations, and only 6% of patients consider fecal microbiota Banks. Conclusion:Most patients with functional constipation are not familiar to FMT in the northwest area of Hubei Province, but they are willing to learn about fecal bacteria transplantation and take it as treatment. Therefore, increasing the promotion of FMT and making patients fully realize the clinical value of FMT is the key to the development of FMT in the future.
