Objective The use of “Horien” Gennu-Plug for guided bone regeneration(GBR)has not been reported in China. In this study, the histological morphology of keratinized gingiva in two groups was compared to evaluate the effect of two different surgical methods in promoting the regeneration of soft tissue around the implant. In order to solve the problem of insufficient soft tissue after implantation,a new technique was proposed.Materials and methods In this study, patients undergoing implantation treatment in Zhong Shan's People hospital from October 2019 to January 2020 were included.Twenty patients with a total of 24 sites were selected.During implantation, patients were randomly divided into two groups(n=12 for each group)by random number table:(1)GP combined with GBR group(experimental group): Bio-Oss bone powder was implanted at the bone defect, covered with Bio-Gide collagen membrane, and GP was used as wound dressing to fill the open wound.(2)conventional GBR group(control group): the bone defect was filled with Bio-Oss bone powder and covered by Bio-Gide collagen membrane.Biopsy samples of the keratinized gingiva were taken from the two groups after the operation 4 months, and histomorphic analysis was carried out to compare the expression of the gingival morphology and collagen fiber in the two groups. Results 1.In this study,a total of 24 sites were included in the experimental group and the control group. All the included patients had good wound healing in the operative area, and no wound cracking or infection occurred.2.Among the histological findings of biopsy samples of the two groups after the surgery 4 months, the microscopic results of the samples in the experimental group and the control group were different. Both the overall morphology of gingival epithelium, epithelial spikes and gingival fibers stained by H&E and the distribution and proportion of mature and immature collagen fibers differentiated by Masson staining indicated that the expression of the experimental group was closer to the normal gingival morphology and structure. Conclusion Gennu Plug(Horien)combined with GBR can provide ideal and physiologically normal keratinized gingiva, which contribute to the regeneration of keratinized gingiva around the implant. This technique is expected to provide some benefits for the preservation of soft tissue around implants.
