Objective: This study aimed to explore the clinical efficacy of long nail(LN)versus short nail(SN)in terms of IFF treatment and complications Method: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria established,we searched the literature published from January 2000 to February 2020 in English languages from databases including Pubmed,Embase, and Cochrane Library. The literature retrieved were compared and non-randomized controlled trials and randomized controlled trials analyzed to extract valid data for surgical time;amount of intraoperative blood loss;and seven postoperative complications.Data were gathered for meta-analysisusing Review Manager 5.3 software. Results:There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of surgical time(P <0.00001)and intraoperative blood loss(P <0.00001).Postoperative complications included head nail removal(p = 0.98),nonunion / delayed healing(P = 0.71),infection(p = 0.23),secondary surgery(p = 0.74),internal fixation failure(p = 0.74),periprosthetic fractures(p = 0.19),and deaths per year(p = 0.77))Are there any statistical differences. Conclusions: IFF patients treated with LNs and SNs do not differ in postoperative complications, but the SN group had significantly shorter surgical time and less blood loss than the LN group.
