As the drug safety draws great attention in our country,drug supervision and management could face more challenges.In order to improve the efficiency of the supervision,departments of drug supervision and management introduce information technology(IT)and establish an IT-based drug supervision system.With time going on,the system gradually changes from an independent operation to the stepped joint operation,which also needs to be more flexible,more easy to use,and more efficient to run.The main purpose of the developed drug management information system in this paper is to improve the efficiency of drug supervision and management.The system strengthens data collection and utilization,and integrates digital image processing,text recognition,mobile applications,and other information technologies.Moreover,we study and research problems of the design and implementation of the IT-based drug management system in this paper.According to the research of current information management systems and the analysis of its functions,characteristics,and various factors affecting functions of the system,we consider practical problems encountered in the application of the management system and determine a hybrid design mode which makes C/S as the main part and B/S as the auxiliary part.The design meets China's relevant policies and regulations on IT-based drug management and focuses on the convenience and efficiency of applications.The system includes some functions such as the information management module,knowledge base module,digital image processing module and text recognition module.These modules are designed to realize the automatic processing of information which could reduce the workload and improve the efficiency of supervision and management.In this paper,we firstly study the current drug management information system,and analyze issues that affect the efficiency of drug supervision and management.For instance,the acquisition and processing of drug information are not automated,and information query is so difficult that existing systems play a weak role in improving the efficiency of supervision and management.Therefore,we mainly study how to use IT to deal with a large number of data generated in the supervision process to improve the efficiency of supervision and management.Secondly,for inadequate information management methods of the e-supervision system,we propose a method to improve efficiency of supervision by introducing digital image processing,text recognition,and mobile application technology into information management.Finally,a drug management information system based on text recognition is implemented,which uses the image clarity evaluation algorithm to detect image recognition degree and removes pictures that cannot be processed by text recognition to improve the efficiency of the system.The system consists of three parts: client,server,and WEB application.The test and analysis of system functions indicate that system functions can meet requirements of the design and application deployment.
