Literature Research Of The Medicinal Vinegar

Objective:This study systematically sorted out the contents on vinegar in ancient herbal books and other related works,in order to clarify the names,medical histories,medicinal properties and efficacy of vinegar.The purpose of the study is exploring the role and use methods of vinegar in prescriptions and summarizing its medicinal characteristics.This study not only providing literature support for the theoretical researches of vinegar,but also providing a certain theoretical basis for the rational clinical application of vinegar.Methods:This study combined the literature research methods and modern statistical methods to arrange and summarize the contents about vinegar through Chinese Medical Dictionary(software version),Dictionary of Prescriptions(first edition)and CNKI.Based on the data,the standardized statistics on the medicinal properties,medicinal taste,meridian tropism and efficacy of vinegar can be conducted.Classification and statistics on the prescriptions that containing vinegar can be completed from the perspectives of vinegar as an auxiliary material,medicine citation,excipient and main medicine.Finally,the clinical application value and characteristics of vinegar are discussed after combining the data with modern research results.Results:1.The study sorted out the evolution process of vinegar's names,and distinguished the original meanings of 14 names related to vinegar and their relationship with vinegar.2.From the Warring States Period to the Qing dynasty,the unearthed and handed down literature that recorded vinegar were studied.And the contents related to the medicinal characteristics,types,brewing methods,taking methods,compatibility and incompatibility of vinegar were summarized as the medical development history of vinegar in chronological order.3.By summarizing and analyzing the contents of 44 herbal literature,it can be concluded that the vinegar is warm,sour and bitter in taste,belong to liver meridian,and has the effects of relieving carbuncle,detoxifying and removing pathogenic factors,eliminating phlegm,activating blood to wake up and eliminating the lump.4.According to the study of 4309 prescriptions containing vinegar,it is found that there are various processing methods.Such as vinegar roasting,vinegar frying,vinegar quenching,vinegar soaking and vinegar boiling when processing medicine with vinegar as auxiliary material.When taking vinegar to guide medicine pills or medicine powder,or taking vinegar as excipient,it has the effect of guiding the medicine into the liver meridian and blending various herbs.Vinegar as medicine into the use of the prescriptions,with the heat detoxification,pain relief,eliminating the lump,tonifying the qi and blood,waking up from stun,and so on,match with the efficacy of vinegar itself.Conclusion:This paper makes a comprehensive study on the ancient medicinal literature of traditional Chinese medicine vinegar,and fills in the weak links in this aspect.It is found that the medicinal value of vinegar is very rich by classifying and statistical analyzing the prescriptions containing vinegar.Vinegar is used in a variety of forms in medical care,and the range of clinical treatment of diseases is wide.This study has laid a good theoretical foundation for more in-depth research in clinical application by later generations.
