Objective:To evaluate the control level of school-age children with asthma, and investigate the factors influencing the level, and provide scientific evidence for improving the level of asthma control and management in Lanzhou.Method: Using cross-sectional study and cluster sampling,Gansu Maternal and Child Health Hospital was selected as the survey site in Lanzhou City. After screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria,a total of 238 pediatric patients with asthma were enrolled, who were 6 ~11 years old and visited the Clinic Center of Asthma at the Gansu Provincial Maternity and Child-care Hospital from Nov 2018 to Oct 2019.According to “Guidelines on the Diagnosis and Prevention of Bronchial Asthma in Children”(2016),the level was divided into three levels: Well-controlled,Partially-controlled and Non-controlled.A self-formulated “Questionnaire for Asthma in Children” was used to collect related information, such as demographics, allergic history of the patient and parents and factors inducing asthma..Patient compliance with ICS was evaluated according to MARS questionnaire. The level of asthma control was analyzed by using logistic regression to identify influencing factors.Results:(1)There were 124(52.10%),85(35.72%)and 29(12.18%)patients,whose symptoms were assessed to be well-controlled,partially-controlled and non-controlled,respectively.Specifically,92 patients complained of more than two episodes during daytime per week,36 patients experienced waking-up due to asthma,25 patients reported over two times of emergency administration per week, and activities were restricted in 73 patients due to the condition;(2)Multi-factor model was constructed with significant factors of single factor analysis.Logistic regression showed that complicated allergic rhinitis(OR=3.955,95%CI:2.214-7.057),winter(OR=2.342,95%CI:1.040-5.270)and acute upper respiratory infection(OR=2.713,95%CI:1.355-5.425)can reduce the level of asthma control, while clinic follow-up(OR=0.488,95%CI:0.268-0.888)and good compliance with ICS(OR=0.180,95%CI:0.095-0.341)can improve the level of asthma control.Conclusion:(1)The control level of school-age children with asthma in Lanzhou was assessed to be in a middle level in this research, which was superior within the Asia Pacific area and below that of developed countries;(2)The children who having the complicated allergic rhinitis, spending the winter and causing acute upper respiratory infection are at risk of poor asthma control.;(3)Level of asthma control may be maintained by periodic clinic follow-up and good compliance with ICS.
