Application Of A Social Media Platform As A Patient Reminder In The Treatment Of Helicobacter Pylori

Objective: To investigate the effect of a social media platform for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection.Methods: We enrolled 222 patients from October 2018 to June 2019,who required Hp therapy.We used WeChat,a social media platform,as a patient reminder tool.They were randomly divided into the intervention and control groups(n=111 per group).In the intervention group,WeChat platform was used to remind the patients to take medicine regularly and prompt them to review on time.In the control group,oral and written instructions were given to the patients regarding the specific medication method,dose,matters needing attention and review time.T test,rank sum test and R×C list were used for statistical analysis to compare and evaluate the differences in disease awareness,standard drug use,occurrence of drug-related adverse reactions and Hp eradication rate between the two groups.Results: Before the intervention of the two groups of patients,the knowledge of Helicobacter pylori was not statistically significant(P=0.052);After communicating and intervening on the WeChat platform,the knowledge of Hp-related knowledge in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.000);Patients in the intervention group had significantly higher compliance with medication and follow-up than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.000);After the two groups were treated with quadruple therapy,the Hp eradication rate in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group.And the difference was statistically significant(P=0.001).Conclusions: Using a social media of WeChat platform may improve patient knowledge,compliance,and treatment rates of Hp infection.
