Objective :To explore the safety, diagnostic and therapeutic value of ultrathin endoscope in infant with gastrointestinal tract disorders. Methods :Fifty infants with upper gastrointestinal tract disorders are examined by ultrathin endoscope. They are divided into 3 groups according to age.The first group includes newborn?group A,n=10?,second includes infants between 2 and 6 months of age?group B,n=28?,and the third is infants between 6 and 12 months of age?group C,n=12?.Before and during the procedure, the blood pressure?BP?,arterial oxygen saturation?SpO2?and heart rate?HR?of the infants are monitored, also the success rate, diagnosis and complications of the gastroscopy are recorded. Results:There is no significant difference in BP and SpO2 before and after the examination?P > 0.05?.But the HR in each group is slightly higher than that before, and the difference was statistically significant?P < 0.05?.The success rate of insertion of endoscopy is 90% in group A,75% in group B and 82% in group C.And the diagnosis rate is 90% in the group A,89.3% in the group B and 83.3% in the group C.The coincidence rate of pathological biopsy and endoscopy is 100% in the group B?n= 4?and the group C?n=7?.The success rate of nasointestinal tube placement in the group A?n=2?is 100%.The success rate of tube placement and dilatation in the group B?n= 9?is 100%.And the success rate of balloon dilatation in the group C?n=1?is 100%.Conclusion:Because it's fine and soft, ultrathin endoscopy can safely and effectively apply to diagnosis and partial treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in infants and newborns. And it can apply to patients with digestive tract stenosis. Thus the ultrathin endoscopy is recommended as the priority for inspection. Objective : Comparing ultrathin endoscopy with traditional endoscopy, researching the safety of ultrathin endoscope in infants, and to evaluate the difference in safety and effectiveness. Methods : One group of twelve infants between 6 and 12 months of age underwent ultrathin endoscopy and the other control group of twelve infants over 6 months underwent traditional endoscopy. Before and during the procedure, the blood pressure?BP?,arterial oxygen saturation?SpO2?and heart rate?HR?of the infants are monitored and recorded, and calculates the differences between them.Recording the success rate, diagnosis and complications of the gastroscopy. Results: The difference of BP,SpO2 and HR between the comparetive study is not significant?P > 0.05?.The success rate of ultrathin endoscopy is 82%,and 75% of the traditional endoscopy. The diagnostic rate of ultrathin endoscopy is 91.67% and that of traditional endoscopy is 100%.The coincidence rate between pathological biopsy and endoscopy in each group is 100% for ultrathin endoscopy?n=7?and 100% for traditional endoscopy. The success rate of balloon dilatation with ultrathin endoscopy?n=1?is 100%,while that of balloon dilatation with traditional endoscopy?n=3?and gastroscopic treatment with duodenal diaphragm is 100%.Conclusion: The safety of ultrafine endoscopy is comparable to that of traditional endoscopy.Because the advantages of ultrathin endoscopy is fine,it can safely and effectively used in inspection on little infants.Especially in the cases of gastrointestinal tract stenosis.
