Background: Hypoparathyroidism(HPT)is a common postoperative complication of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC),which affects the postoperative quality of life of patients. Therefore, this article investigated the possible influencing factors for postoperative HPT.Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the patients who underwent PTC operation in the department of breast and thyroid surgery of The second affiliated hospital of chongqing medical university between January 1,2015 and December 31,2018.Results: A total of 566 patients were included in this study, including 106 males(18.7%)and 460 females(81.3%),with an average age of 45.9±13.3.Of the 566 patients included,94(16.6%)developed HPT,of which 17(3.%)developed permanent HPT.The results of single factor analysis showed that the differences in age, lymph node dissection, thyroidectomy or hemithyroidectomy and PGRIS were statistically significant. The results of multi-factor analysis suggested that the occurrence of HPT was related to lymph node dissection, thyroidectomy or hemithyroidectomy,PGRIS,the usage of carbon nanoparticles and Parathyroid autotransplantation. Conclusion: A large scope of surgery will increase the possibility of HPT.In order to reduce the occurrence of HPT after surgery, careful identification and protection of the parathyroid gland should be conducted during surgery. The use of nano-carbon during surgery will reduce the incidence of HPT.
