Objective:This research probes into the prognostic value of total kidney volume in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. Methods:Cochrane Library?Pubmed?Embase and CNKI databases were searched to identify potential studies which discussed the prognostic value of total kidney volume in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease from the date of their establishment to September,2019.Quality assessment and data extraction were performed by two researchers independently in those studies in line with the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Then STATA 12.0 software was used to accomplish the Meta-Analysis.Results:Thirteen studies were included, including 10 cohort studies,1 randomized controlled trial,1 cross-sectional study, and a total of 1982 patients participated in the studies.Meta-analysis results show that the total kidney volume is of medium-intensity value for the early prognosis of patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease(r=-0.45,95%CI:-0.49~-0.41).Subgroup analysis by region shows that the coefficient is(r =-0.46,95% CI:-0.50 ~-0.42)in North America;in Asia it is(r =-0.38,95% CI:-0.48 ~-0.27);in Europe it is(r =-0.46,95% CI:-0.60 ~-0.29).Subgroup analysis was performed according to the kidney measurement methods: Ultrasound group(r =-0.50,95% CI:-0.56 ~-0.42);MRI group:(r =-0.44,95% CI:-0.48 ~-0.40).Both Begg 's test and Egger 's test suggest that there was no significant bias in theincluded studies. Conclusion:This study shows that the total kidney volume has a moderate predictive value for the prognosis and disease progression of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, and can be used as a good indicator for monitoring the condition of polycystic kidney disease patients in clinical and drug trials. The value of people in different regions is not the same, this value is greater in North America and Europe, but relatively weak in Asia.Different methods of measuring kidney volume also have an impact on this value.
