Objevtive:To analyze the anthropometric parameters of full-term small for gestational age(SGA)under 7 years old in the real world, and to study the physical growth characteristics of full-term SGA.Methods:The growth data of full-term SGA under 7 years old in child health care system of Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University form December 2010 to January 2018 were collected retrospectively.Growth level, growth velocity, and body mass index(BMI)were compared between full-term SGA and WHO reference populations. The Z score of weight, height and head circumference were used to evaluate the catch-up growth(CUG)and physical growth of full-term SGA in 21~24 month group and 6~7-year-old group. Results:The research consisted of 11328 children, including 6658boys(58.8%)and 4670 girls(41.2%).The number of full-term SGA in boys was larger than that in girls in all age groups. There was a trend of catch-up growth of full-term SGA after birth. The differences in weight, height and head circumference between full-term SGA and the reference population gradually narrowed, but the Growth level didn't reach the WHO Child Growth Standards until 7 years old.The BMI of full-term SGA in all age groups was lower that of WHO standard, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).More than 70%of full-term SGA show CUG before 2-year-old.The CUG rate of height is the lowest. In the 21~24month group, the CUG rate of weight(?~2=16.023,P<0.001)and head circumference(?~2=26.957,P<0.001)were significantly higher than height. In 6~7-year-old group, the CUG rate of height was significantly lower than that of weight(?~2=17.781,P<0.001).The incidence of WAZ<-2 and HAZ<-2 in full-term SGA was significantly higher than that reported by China Nutrition and Health Surveillance(CNHS)in 2013.Conclusion:Full-term SGA shows a unique growth pattern, mainly as follows:(1)there is a phenomenon of CUG,and the speed is the fastest within 6 months;(2)full-term SGA lagged their peers in physical development until pre-school age.The causes of SGA are complex, and postnatal physical dysplasia may be related to its unique growth pattern rather than merely due to malnutrition. It may be more appropriate to use failure to thrive(FTT)to describe the lagging growth of SGA.
