Objective:Oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)is the sixth largest malignant tumor in the world and the most common head and neck malignancies, mainly occurring in the oral mucosa such as the tongue, floor of mouth, cheeks, and gums.Oral squamous cell carcinoma often invades and distant metastases, which seriously threatens patients' lives.Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein D(hnRNPD),also known as AUF1,is a member of the hnRNP protein family and is a nucleic acid binding protein.Studies have shown that hnRNPD is involved in the regulation of multiple biological pathways and is associated with multiple diseases such as inflammation, cancer, cardiovascular disease, aging and viral infection.Epithelial cell adhesion molecule(EpCAM)is a transmembrane surface glycoprotein with a relative molecular mass of 40,000.EpCAM is highly expressed in a variety of epithelial-derived cancer tissues and lowly expressed in normal epithelial tissues,so it is considered a tumor marker. There are few reports about the expression of hnRNPD protein and EpCAM protein in oral squamous cell carcinoma tissues, and the conclusions are not completely consistent. In this study, the immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of hnRNPD and EpCAM in OSCC tissues, and their expression and significance in OSCC tissues were explored to lay the foundation for their role in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of OSCC.Methods:The OSCC tissues of 38 OSCC patients without preoperative chemoradiotherapy and the oral mucosa of 11 normal patients were selected.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression levels of hnRNPD and EpCAM proteins in OSCC tissues and normal oral mucosa tissues. The expression levels of two proteins in OSCC tissues of OSCC patients with different clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. Results: 1.Compared with normal mucosal tissues,hnRNPD and EpCAM proteins xpression levels increased in OSCC tissues(Z=-4.936,P=0.000;Z=-2.780,P=0.005).2.The expression levels correlation between hnRNPD and EpCAM proteins was eak(?=0.227,P=0.17).3.There are statistically significant differences in EpCAM protein expression levels n OSCC tissues of different genders and ages of OSCC patients(Z=-2.471,P=0.013;Z=-1.967;P=0.049).There was no significant difference in the xpression level of hnRNPD protein in OSCC tissues of patients with different linicopathological parameters. Conclusion:The expression levels of hnRNPD and EpCAM proteins are up-regulated in OSCC tissues of OSCC patients, and they promotes the occurrence and development of OSCC.
