Objective:Diabetic nephropathy(DN)is one of the serious complications of diabetes.It is very important to slowing the progression of kidney function decline for diabetic.The effect of SGLT-2 inhibitor on renal function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus has not been clearly concluded.This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors on kidney function in patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods:We searched PubMed,Web of Science,EMBASE,Cochrane Library databases and Clinical Trials to collecting the literatures on randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of SGLT-2 inhibitors compared with placebo for type 2 diabetes.The meta-analysis was conducted by Revman5.3 software to compare the effects of SGLT-2 inhibitors on eGFR,serum creatinine,body weight,blood pressure and uric acid in diabetics.Results:A total of nineteen RCTs were included in this study.Meta-analysis results showed that a greater reduction in estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)in patients treated with the high dose of SGLT2 inhibitors for duration ?26 weeks compared with placebo [MD=-0.74,95%CI(0.92,-0.56),P<0.05],and has a increase for duration ?48 weeks[MD=1.07,95%CI(0.67,1.47),P<0.05].It also showed that a great increase in eGFR in patients treated with the low dose of SGLT2 inhibitors for duration ?48 weeks compared with placebo[MD=1.12,95%CI(0.65,1.58),P < 0.05] while there were no significant differences between two groups for duration ?26 weeks.There were no significant differences between two groups in serum creatinine with both doses and both durations.Besides,SGLT-2 inhibitors could also reduction body weight,blood pressure and uric acid compared with placebo.Conclusion:SGLT-2 inhibitors may reduce the progression of kidney function decline in patients with type 2 diabetes.Future research can explore the mechanism of renal protective with SGLT-2 inhibitors.
