Objective: To measure the shear wave velocities of liver and spleen before and after endoscopic esophagogastric vein ligation and sclerotherapy in patients with esophagogastric varices after liver cirrhosis by using VTQ(virtual touch tissue quantification),and to compare with the degree of esophagogastric varices examined by endoscopy in order to study the shear wave velocities of liver and spleen(LSWV,SSWV).The value of shear wave velocity in evaluating the clinical intervention effect of patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with esophagogastric varices.Methods: The SSWV and LSWV values of 42 patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with esophagogastric varices were measured before and after endoscopic esophagogastric varices ligation and sclerotherapy by acoustic touch tissue quantification technique.The SSWV and LSWV values were measured again 4 weeks after operation,and the changes of SSWV and LSWV before and after operation were compared.At the same time,the degree of esophagogastric varices was recorded before and after operation.Statistical software SPSS was used for statistical analysis of the test results.Results:(1)The SSWV values of moderate and severe esophagogastric varices were different(severe ?x±s=2.58±0.65 m/s,moderate ?x±s=2.21 ±0.40 m/s,p=0.021).When the critical value of SSWV was 3.66 m/s,the sensitivity and specificity of differentiating moderate and severe esophagogastric varices were 70.6% and 100% respectively;(2)SSWV values decreased 4 weeks after endoscopic esophagogastric varices ligation and sclerotherapy(before operation ?x±s=3.63±0.36 m/s,after operation ?x±s=3.46±0.36 m/s,P=0.001).The mean decrease difference was 0.16±0.19 m/s.The sensitivity and specificity were 61.5% and 100% respectively when the critical value was 0.13m/s.(3)There was no significant difference in LSWV value between patients with moderate and severe esophagogastric varices and before and after "endoscopic esophagogastric varices ligation and sclerotherapy".(4)Under Sarin’s classification of esophagogastric varices,there was no significant difference in SSWV and LSWV between different types.Conclusion: SSWV measurement by Virtual Touch Tissue Quantification technique has a good application value in the diagnosis and treatment of esophagogastric varices.
