Objective: To analyze retrospectively and elucidate characteristics of treatment of esophageal fistula complicated with anterior cervical surgery.Methods: A retrospective analysis was made concerning the clinical data of 5 cases with complicated esophageal fistula after anterior cervical surgery in our hospital from January 2003 to December 2018.Results: Of the 5 patients,3 died of pulmonary infection,sepsis and shock,etc.The other 2 patients healed after treatment of the fistula,with the performance of internal fixation removal.Conclusion: Esophageal fistula complicated with anterior cervical spine surgery is a rare and serious complication,which is diagnosed on the basis of its unique clinical manifestations such as food residue leakage.The removal of internal fixator,,resulting in the achievement of satisfied outcome generally through corresponding treatment.
