Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of retrograde intramedullary nailing and less invasive stabilization system in the treatment of distal femoral fracture. Methods: Data of 54 patients with distal femoral fracture who have been treated by two different surgical internal fixation methods from May2014 to May 2019 was retrospectively analyzed.According to the different surgical treatment they received,23 patients including 7 males and 16females(averaging 58.08±19.11 years old)were fixed by retrograde intramedullary nailing(RIN)and 31 patients including 10 males and 21females(averaging 57.29±17.56 years old)by less invasive stabilization system(LISS).The operation time, blood loss, postoperative pain, fracture healing time and knee joint function of the two groups were observed and compared. The postoperative pain was assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS),while the knee function was assessed by HSS knee joint scoring method. Results: The 54 patients were followed up effectively for 12~ 24 months. The differences in operation time, blood loss and postoperative pain between the two groups had no statistically significance(P>0.05).All patients had normal healing, and the average healing time was 18.57±5.30 weeks for RIN group and 21.32±4.04 weeks for LISS group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The average HSS score of the knee joint function in the two groups was 85.09±9.40 and 86.41±8.85,and the excellent and good rate was 86.96% in RIN group, and 87.10% in LISS group, with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion: There were no obvious differences in operative time, blood loss, postoperative pain and knee joint function between RIN and LISS for treating distal femoral fracture, with both having good clinical efficacy. However, the fracture healing time is shorter by using RIN which is more conducive to fracture healing.
