Brain nerve disease has become one of the most serious diseases that endanger people's health.Early diagnosis is helpful for treating brain nerve disease effectively. Therefore, the analysis of brain tissue has become a research hotspot in the field of brain science.Brain tissue analysis based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)has developed rapidly.Voxel-based morphometry(VBM)has been able to detect abnormal morphology using brain MRI images, and tract-based spatial statistics(TBSS)can detect the connectivity of the main nerve fiber tracts in the brain based on diffusion tensor imaging(DTI).white matter network(WM network)can quantify the cognitive abilities of the brain. In recent years,WM network has been used to analyze brain abnormalities in neurological disorders patient and has made great progress. In this paper, the DTI based white matter analysis been deeply investigated. The research including two parts: brain white matter analysis in Alzheirmer's Disease(AD)patients and cerebral white matter network in infants with cerebral palsy. The main contents of this paper is as follows:(1)This paper had introduced the theory of brain white matter analysis based on MRI(VBM,TBSS and WM network),and also elaborated their background and research progress.(2)To detect cerebral white matter abnormalities of AD patients. This paper introduced the experiment of VBM,TBSS and WM network how to detect cerebral white matter abnormalities of AD patients, and compare their experimental results. At last,we come to a conclusion: since WM network can not only accurately detect the abnormal brain area of AD patients, but also reflect the connectivity of the brain regions. Therefore, compared with VBM and TBSS,WM network may obtain more detailed and accurate detection results of brain nerve diseases.(3)To detect cerebral white matter abnormalities of cerebral palsy infants.Present study used diffusion tensor image and tractography to construct brain white matter network of 15 cerebral palsy infants and 30 healthy infants that matched for age and gender. After white matter network analysis,we found that both cerebral palsy and healthy infants had a small-world topology in white matter network, but cerebral palsy infants exhibited abnormal topological organization: increased shortest path length but decreased normalize clustering coefficient, global efficiency and local efficiency.Furthermore,we also found that white matter network hub regions were located in the left cuneus, precuneus, and left posterior cingulate gyrus. However, some abnormal nodes existed in the cerebral palsy infant frontal, temporal, occipital and parietal lobes. These results indicated that the white matter network for cerebral palsy infants was disrupted and consistent with previous studies about the abnormal brain white matter areas. This work could help us further study the pathogenesis of the cerebral palsy infant.
