Analyzing the conditions that produce beta oscillations in the basal ganglia plays a key role in understanding the mechanism of Parkinson's disease(PD).In this paper,we take two models into consideration. One is the cortex-subthalamic nucleus-globus pallidus externa model(Cortex-STN-GPe)and the other is subthalamic nucleus-globus pallidus externa-globus pallidus interna model(STN-GPe-GPi).Based on the Cortex-STN-GPe model proposed by Pavlides A.et al.,we obtained the stable boundary conditions of the model through theoretical analysis, and discussed the influence of cortex and striatum as external input of the model on the beta oscillation through numerical simulation. The model divides cortex into two parts: excitatory neural population(E)and inhibitory neural population(I),this is where the model differs from the others, therefore we analyzed the influence of the parameters in the cortical circuit on the amplitude and frequency of the beta oscillation. Many research considering the subthalamic nucleus-globus pallidus(STN-GP)circuit but does not take GPi into consideration,so we extend the STN-GPe model and put forward the STN-GPe-GPi model. We use the same method to analyze the stable boundary conditions and discussed the influence of cortex and striatum of the model on the beta oscillation.Since GPi is a new part of the model,we also analyzed the impact of parameters related to GPi by generating the amplitude and frequency of oscillation.Hope that our results will help to further find a treatment for Parkinson's disease and can be applied to research neural oscillations producedby other parts of the brain's neural network.
