Among malignant tumors, lung cancer ranked first in morbidity and mortality. One of the most important method of treating lung cancer is radiation therapy,60% ~ 70% patients need to receive radiation therapy during the treatment process.Radical radiotherapy is of great significance for controlling tumors growth and improving patients prognosis.Palliative radiotherapy plays an important role in relieving local symptoms such as cancer pain, obstruction, and bleeding. However, patients after radiotherapy still have poor control of tumors and related symptoms.Patients often have adverse reactions such as radiation pneumonia and radiation esophagitis, which are life-threatening in severe cases.Precision radiotherapy is proposed to improve the treatment effect of lung cancer patients, reduce complications, and improve patients' overall survival. The factors which affect the accuracy of radiotherapy mainly include inaccurate tumor staging, blurred boundary delineation of the target area, positioning errors, the target area movement caused by respiratory motion, and tumor tissue radioresistance.Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)has the advantages of excellent soft tissue contrast, diverse imaging positions and sequences, functional imaging, and no excess radiation. In recent years, due to therapid development of magnetic resonance technology,MRI imaging in the lungs has become clearer and more accurate.MRI in lung cancer radiotherapy can help solve related problems that affect the efficacy of radiotherapy to achieve precise radiotherapy.MRI application in all aspects of lung cancer radiotherapy is becoming more and more mature, and more clear to to diagnose lung nodules, and also clear to optimize the process of delineating the target area makes the depiction of target tumor volume and organs at risk more clear. In response to the problem of large changes in tumor spatial position during radiotherapy,an image-guided radiotherapy technology based on rapid deformation registration algorithm was created to achieve fast online dose optimization and reduce the situation of insufficient radiotherapy dose in the tumor target area and excessive radiation dose in normal tissues;Through the functional imaging parameters provided by MRI,radiotherapy efficacy and injury prediction methods are established so that the treatment plan can be adjusted in time and effectively.Although MRI haven't yet fully applied to lung cancer radiotherapy,MRI-guided radiotherapy is the future direction of precise radiotherapy for the lungs. The imaging technology development has realized the clear imaging of lungs by MRI,which is a promising new method for lung cancer radiotherapy and worthy of further implementation and promotion.
