Research Progress On The Correlation Between Homocysteine And Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease is one of the most common causes of death in clinical practice,and it seriously threatens the life and health of our people.A large number of studies have shown that traditional factors such as hypertension,diabetes,hyperlipidemia,obesity,and smoking cannot fully explain its pathogenesis.In recent years,studies have shown that homocysteine(Hcy)is related to the occurrence,development and prognosis of coronary heart disease,but the effect of active intervention treatment of supplementing B vitamins such as folic acid is still controversial.This article reviews the concept of homocysteine,the mechanism of atherosclerosis induced by homocysteine,and its relationship with coronary heart disease,and provides evidence of whether to routinely screen hyperhomocysteinemia and actively take intervention treatment or not.
