Objective To analyze the characteristics of neuropsychological development of low birth weight infants and their mothers’ emotions, and to explore the effects of early intervention on neuropsychological development of low birth weight infants and their mothers’ emotions. Methods A cohort of 135 infants with low birth weight and their mothers was selected. They were randomly divided into intervention group and control group. On the basis of routine physical examination, the intervention group was instructed the family intervention training. At the age of 3,9,18 month old,the mothers filled out the Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and the self rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)to evaluate the mothers’ emotion and the temperament questionnaire to evaluate infant temperament, and the infants received Gesell intellectual development check at the same time. Results At 9 months old, there were significant differences between the intervention group and the control group in the gross motor, adaptive behavior and the language(P<0.05),and at the 18 months old, there were significant differences in the five developmental abilities(P<0.05).Repeated measurement anova found that time effect was statistically different in the five developmental abilities(P<0.05).In addition to the gross motor, there were significant differences between two groups of the other four developmental abilities(P<0.05).And there was no interaction between the other four developmental abilities except the language(P>0.05).Compared with the norm data of full-term infants, the temperament dimensions of low birth weight infants at 3 months old had significant differences in activity level, avoidance, response intensity, attentional dispersion and response threshold(P<0.05);at 9 months old, there were significant differences in rhythm, adaptability, emotional essence, attentional dispersion and response threshold(P<0.05);At 18 months old, there were significant differences in motor level and adaptability(P<0.05).There was a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in response threshold dimension at 18 months old.(P<0.05).At 9 months old,the scores of SDS in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, and there was a significant difference(P<0.05).The scores of SDS,SAS in 3,9,18 months old of the two groups showed a decreasing trend,There were significant differences in time effect(P<0.05),but no differences in intervention effect(P>0.05)According to infants’ temperament type, mother’SAS、SDS scores were divided into four groups,One-Way anova showed that at 3 months old,SAS scores of mothers had a significant difference between groups(P < 0.05);SDS scores of mothers had a significant difference between groups(P < 0.05)..Conclusion Early intervention can effectively promote the intellectual development of low birth weight infants. The temperament characteristics of low birth weight infants are different from those of full-term infants. The temperament characteristics of infants at 3 months old have a great influence on their mothers’ emotions..
