Objetive: The safety and feasibility of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC)for patients receiving minimally invasive esophagectomy(MIE)remain controversial. The purpose of our study was to explore the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for perioperation of patients with esophageal cancer of MIE by comparing two groups of patients,NAC plus MIE and MIE alone.Materials and Methods: The study was used retrospective cohort method to analysis 149 esophageal cancer cases' factors, all of the patients was selected from the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University Department of Thoracic Surgery between March 2018 to September 2019.The patients was assigned to NAC+MIE group(32 cases)or MIE alone group(117 cases). All patients leukocyte counts, lymphocyte counts, neutrophil counts, hemoglobin concentrationes, platelet counts, levels of serum albumin, creatinine, prognosis, nutrition indexs were collected before operation.Durations of operation, intraoperative blood losses, numbers of lymph node cleaning, postoperative complications were all collected. All data was analyzed with SPSS 22.0.Results: There was no statistical significance in the basic clinical characteristics between the two groups(P>0.05);the preoperative lymphocyte count, hemoglobin concentration, albumin level and prognosis nutrition index of patients in NAC + MIE group were lower than those in MIE alone group(P<0.05)and there was no statistical significance in other indexes between the two groups(P>0.05);the operation time and intraoperative blood loss in NAC + MIE group were higher than those in MIE group(P<0.05),and there was no statistical significance between the two groups in the number of lymph node dissection(P>0.05);there was no statistical significance between the two groups in the incidence of the postoperative complications, unplanned secondary surgery and the length of hospitalization(P>0.05).Conclusion: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy can reduce the preoperative nutritional condition of patients with esophageal cancer, prolong the operation time, and increase the amount of intraoperative blood loss, but it does not increase the incidence of complications after minimally invasive esophagectomy.
