| Benign airway stenosis is the airway stricture caused by the destruction of the airway wall of various nonmalignant reasons. As tracheal intubation and airway stents are widely used for the treatment of critically ill patients, the cases of airway stenosis have increased gradually. Objective: To determine whether Triamcinolone acetonide can effectively inhibit the proliferation of tracheal granulation tissue after endotracheal stent implantation. Methods: A model of benign airway stenosis was made by balloon compression in 9 beagles. They were randomly divided into three groups, with 3 in each group.3 in the blank group,3 in the placebo group and 3 in the treatment group. The formation of granulation tissue was observed on the seventh day after the balloon oppress. The treatment group was injected with Triamcinolone acetonide with 50 mg in the granulation tissue. The same capacity physiological saline was injected into the placebo group, and the blank group do nothing. The bronchoscopy was observed on the fourteenth day and the twenty-first day,and the pathological analysis was performed on the twenty-first day to observe the changes of the trachea wall after the stent implantation. Results: After the experiment, all of them could recover smoothly.Three weeks later, the granulation tissue was visible on the place of balloon compression. The stenosis of the blank group was about 11.80%~22.46%,the stenosis of the placebo group was about 25.81%~28.68%,and the stenosis of the treatment group was about 10.15% ~ 19.03%.The degree of fibrous proliferation and mucous gland hyperplasia in placebo group was lower than that in the treatment group, and the degree of collagen fibrous proliferation in the blank group was lower than that in the placebo group. Conclusion:Triamcinolone acetonide can inhibit the proliferation of granulation tissue and reduce the degree of airway stenosis. |
