Objective: To analyze the expression and clinical significance of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)gene in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)by mining the relevant data from TCGA and GEPIA database. Methods: The data of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)and hepatocellular carcinoma in TCGA and GEPIA database were collected and analyzed.T-test was used to compare the difference of gene expression between hepatocellular carcinoma and normal tissues.One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences of gene expression between different clinical stages.Kaplan-Meier method was used for survival analysis.Result: A total of 374 HCC samples were collected from TCGA database.Compared with 50 paracancerous tissues,it was significantly higher for the expression of MIF in HCC tissues than that in paracancerous tissues.GEPIA database analysis showed that the expression of MIF gene was correlated with the overall survival rate of HCC,but not with the disease-free survival rate of HCC(P > 0.05).There was a significant correlation between the expression of MIF gene and the clinical stage of HCC.Conclusion: MIF is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma, which is significantly different in different stages of hepatocellular carcinoma, and is closely related to the prognosis and survival of hepatocellular carcinoma.
