Objectives:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Vascular endothelial growth factor vascular endothelial growth factor-D(VEGF-D)and Cyclooxygenase-2 in lymphangiogenesis(LM).Methods: A total of 40 paraffin-embedded specimens of lymphatic malformations in oral and maxillofacial regions and 10 normal lymphoid tissues were collected from the department of Pathology of Sheng Jing Hospital from February 2008 to June 2016.The expression of VEGF-D and COX-2 was detected by IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL SP method. The expression of VEGF-D and COX-2 in lymphatic malformation of oral and maxillofacial region was analyzed by chi-square test, and the correlation of VEGF-D and COX-2 in lymphatic malformation was analyzed by Spearman correlation. Results: The positive expression rates of VEGF-D in LM and normal lymphoid tissues were 85.0%(34/40)and 30.0%(3/10),respectively.The positive expression rates of COX-2 in LM and normal lymphoid tissues were 67.5%(27/40)and 20.0%(2/10),respectively.There was significant difference in expression of VEGF-D and COX-2between LM and normal lymph tissue(P<0.05).In Lm,the expression of VEGF-D and COX-2 was positively correlated(P<0.05).Conclusion: VEGF-D and COX-2 may play a role in the development of LM in oral and maxillofacial region, and may be one of the etiological factors of LM.
