Objective:The loss of bone mineral density after total hip arthroplasty, and Zoledronic acid is an effective treatment. However, the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients after total hip arthroplasty needs further study. In postmenopausal osteoporosis patients, there will be further loss of periprosthetic bone mineral density, which will increase the risk. This paper discusses the therapeutic effect of zoledronic acid salt on BMD around the prosthesis. This study prospectively examined the effect of zoledronic acid on bone turnover and BMD after total hip arthroplasty. Methods: Between September 2017 and June 2018,30 patients who underwent THA due to unilateral femoral head necrosis and unilateral hip osteoarthritis were divided into treatment group and control group according to whether zoledronic acid was used postoperatively.Active vitmin D and calcium were used regularly in both groups. The treatment group was given medicine 3 weeks and one year after THA.The periprosthetic BMD,?-CTX,t-p1 np,OC,Harris and SF-12 scores of 7 Gruen zones were recorded. Results: BMD was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group in Gruen 1,2,6,and 7 zones at 3 months,Gruen 1,6,and 7 zones at 6 months,Gruen 1,2,6,and 7 zones at 12 months,Gruen 1,6,and 7 zones at 12 months.Compared with baseline measures of BMD,treatment group was significantly higher than control group in Gruen 1,2,6 zones at all months observation time points.?-ctx and T-P1 NP levels were significantly decreased in the treatment group at 3,6,12,18 months.OC were not different between the two groups.Harris scale was significantly higher in the treatment group at 12,18 months.SF-12 scale was not different between the two groups. Conclusion:The loss of periprosthetic BMD,especially in the proximal femur(zones 1 and6,7)after THA.In addition, bone turnover markers were suppressed until 18 months postoperatively following ZA administration.Harris scale score can be improved.
