Objectives:The imaging data of supernumerary teeth were collected and the characteristics of teeth such as age, sex, location, number, shape, impacted condition and clinical symptoms were analyzed to understand the situation of supernumerary teeth and to explore the etiology of possible influencing factors.Explore the application of extraction through maxillary vestibular groove for supernumerary teeth impacted in the floor of the nasal cavity and evaluate the clinical effect.Methods:1.Patients with supernumerary teeth were collected in June 2017 to November 2019 in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, stomatological hospital affiliated to Kunming medical university.According to the inclusion criteria,482 patients were screened, all of whom underwent CBCT and oral examination.Through three-dimensional reconstruction of CBCT data, the number of each type of supernumerary teeth, the relationship with the position of adjacent teeth and other characteristics were analy zed.The maxillary length was measured by CBCT and the factors affecting the maxillary length were analyzed.2.In this study 50 patients were collected in January 2018 to July 2019 and divided into 2 groups. The locate of the supernumerary teeth by CBCT.Operation time, postoperative pain, swelling, and wound healing were recorded and analyzed.Results:1.A total of 482 patients aged 4-65 years were included in this study.19 people aged 0-5,accounting for 3.9%;246 people aged 6-14,accounting for 51.03%;217 people aged>15,accounting for 45.02%.2.A total of 482 patients were included in this study. The maxillary anterior area was the most prone area, accounting for 91.2%.In addition,31 cases(6.4%)were found in maxillary posterior area. There were 7 cases(1.4%)of mandibular posterior area. There were 4 cases(0.8%)of mandibular anterior area.3.A total of 482 patients were included in this study, including 332 males and 150 females, with a male-female ratio Of 2.21:1.4.A total of 482 patients were included in this study, single supernumerary teeth of 332 people, accounting for 68.9%;two supernumerary teeth of 140 people, accounting for 29.0%;three supernumerary teeth of 8 people, accounting for 1.7%;four supernumerary teeth of 2 people, accounting for 0.4%.5.A total of 644 supernumeray teeth were included in this study,383 cones, accounting for 59.2%;107 teeth with normal shape, accounting for 16.6%;156nodular,accounting for 24.2%.6.A total of 644 supernumerary teeth were included in this study,119 were completely eruption, accounting for 18.5%;353 were completely impacted, accounting for 54.6%;173 were partially impacted, accounting for 26.8%.7.A total of 482 patients were included in this study,18 cases occur root resorption, accounting for 3.7%;135 cases occur malocclusion, accounting for 28%;178 cases influence permanent teeth eruption, accounting for 36.9%;8 cases occur dentigerous cyst, accounting for 1.6%.8.A total of 525 impacted teeth were included in this study, inverted impacted 224,accounting for 34.7%;horizontal impacted 89,accounting for 13.8%;vertical impacted 115,accounting for 17.8%;oblique impacted 97,accounting for 15.0%.9.In this study, maxillary length data of 453 cases were collected, and the results showed that maxillary length was positively correlated with age(r=0.599,P<0.001).There was negative correlation between maxillary length and number of extra teeth(r=-0.100,P=0.034).10.In this study, experimental group(maxillary vestibular groove incision)was better than control group(supragingival incision)in terms of pain, swelling, wound healing(p<0.05).Conclusions:1.CBCT is of guiding significance in the diagnosis, localization and treatment of supernumerary teeth, and provide help for clinical work.2.Maxillary anterior area is the most predilection site for supernumerary teeth. The incidence of supernumerary teeth in males is significantly higher than that in females, and the possibility of clinical symptoms of supernumerary teeth is higher.3.Supernumerary teeth can affect the normal development of the maxilla.4.The use of maxillary vestibular groove incision in the extraction of supernumerary teeth on the nasal floor has a lower incidence of pain and swelling and better wound healing than the use of suprasingival incision.
