ObjectiveTo explore the application effect of action research on promoting early postoperative activities of patients with gastrointestinal tumors and reducing the occurrences of postoperative complicationsMethodsAs a quasi-experimental study, based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, patients were numbered according to the sequence of admission, and patients in the east ward were included as the experimental group, and patients in the west ward were included as the control group.Control group was provided with routine care.Based on the theory of energized education, experimental group conduct action research on early postoperative activity of patients in addition of routine care.Through evaluation of the existing problems, this research aims to develop a solution and apply the method to the research object, observing the effects of application and improving the early active motion therapy in practice.Generally speaking,it is a spiraling cycles with three rounds of action research intervention. This study observes measurement indicators such as the time of first postoperative activity out of bed,the amount of activity out of bed within 3 days after surgery, the first exhaust and defecating time, the sleep time within 3 days after surgery, the wound healing condition, the incidence of intestinal adhesion during hospitalization, postoperative hospital stay, etc.Data information is analyzed and processed through SPSS 23.0 statistical software package.ResultsA total of 90 patients with gastrointestinal tumors were enrolled in the study, including 45 in the experimental group and 45 in the control group.During the study process,a total of 4 patients were excluded because of postoperative bleeding. Therefore, experimental group and the control group lost 2 cases each.A total of 86 patients completed the data collection, including 43 in the experimental group and 43 in the control group.(1)The time of first postoperative activity out of bed:Group Comparison:Result comparison of each round of action research reveals that the time of first postoperative activity out of bed in experimental group was earlier than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Intra-group Comparison:the difference in the time of first postoperative activity out of bed among the experimental group was statistically significant(P<0.05),the difference in the time of first time to get out of bed among the control group has no statistics significance(P>0.05).(2)The amount of activity out of bed within 3 days after surgery:Group Comparison:Result comparison of each round of action research indicates that the number of steps in activity out of bed within 3 days after surgery of the experimental group was more than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Intra-group Comparison:there was a statistically significant difference in the number of steps in activity out of bed within 3 days after surgery among the experimental group(P<0.05),there was no statistically significant difference in the number of steps in activity out of bed within 3 days after surgery among the control group(P>0.05).(3)The exhaust and defecating time:Group Comparison:Result comparison of each round of action research reveals that the first exhaust and defecating time of patients in the experimental group is earlier than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Intra-group Comparison:there were no statistically significant difference in the first exhaust and defecating time among the experimental and control group(P>0.05).(4)The sleep time:Group Comparison:Result comparison of each round of action research indicates that the sleep time within 3 days after surgery of the experimental group is longer than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Intra-group Comparison:the difference in the sleep time within 3 days after surgery was statistically significant among the experimental group(P<0.05),the difference in the sleep time within 3 days after surgery among the control group has no statistics significance(P>0.05).(5)The wound healing condition:Result comparison of three rounds of action research reveals that the difference in grade of wound healing among the experimental and control group has no statistics significance(P>0.05).(6)The incidence of intestinal adhesion:Result comparison of three rounds of action research reveals that the difference in the incidence of intestinal adhesion among the experimental and control group has no statistics significance(P>0.05).(7)Postoperative hospital stay:Group Comparison:Result comparison of each round of action research indicates that postoperative hospital stay of is shorter than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Intra-group Comparison:there was a statistically significant difference in postoperative hospital stay among the experimental group(P<0.05),there was no statistically significant difference in postoperative hospital stay among the control group(P>0.05).ConclusionAction research is beneficial to promote early postoperative activities of patients with gastrointestinal tumor, shorten the time of patients' first postoperative activities, increase the amount of postoperative activities, improve the recovery of intestinal functions, increase postoperative sleep time, and make contribution to the achievement of early recovery goal.Nevertheless, the effect on wound healing and intestinal adhesion requires further research.
