Abstract/Summary:
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of The Test for Respiratory and Asthma Control in Kids in asthma control for children 5 years of age or younger.Methods:(1)112 asthma patients ≤5 years old who were diagnosed in the outpatient clinic of children’s asthma in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jishou University were selected.Caregivers of asthmatic children completed the track questionnaire at baseline visit and follow-up visit(4-6weeks interval)respectively, and the scores were recorded by the study participants.(2)At each follow-up,asthma experts will group all patients with asthma control status based on GINA(controlled, partially controlled, uncontrolled)and decide their treatment plan for the next month(upgraded treatment, unchanged, degraded treatment).(3)This study uses a double-blind method.Experts do not know their TRACK score when evaluating the asthma control level of children based on GINA.Questionnaire investigators do not know the patient’s control level during the questionnaire survey.(4)We evaluated the reliability and validity of theTRACK questionnaire, compared the TRACK scores of the three groups, and adopted a non-parametric test.Results:(1)The internal consistency reliability of the Chinese version of the TRACK questionnaire at two visits was 0.71 and0.73 respectively(reliability statistics,Cronbach ’s alpha).(2)During the two visits, the doctors based on the GINA evaluation were both 0.88 in the control group.(3)The difference in TRACK scores of children in the control group, partial control group and uncontrolled group at baseline was statistically significant(P<0.001 in both cases),and the highest value was in the control group(median,85;The interquartile number IQR,80-95),the lowest value was in the uncontrolled group(median 55,interquartile number IQR,45-65),and the same trend was observed during follow-up visits. In addition, the TRACK scores of the degraded treatment, unchanged and escalated treatments were significantly different between the groups at baseline and at follow-up(both P <0.001 at both visits).Among them, the TRACK score of the degraded treatment group was the highest(median,95;Interquartile IQR,90-100),the upgraded treatment group had the lowest score(median 57.5;interquartile IQR,45-70).(4)At baseline visit,a tracking score of 80 points showed the best sensitivity and specificity(82% and 88%,respectively),and thearea under the curve(AUC)was 0.89.During the follow-up,ROC curve analysis showed that a tracking score of 85 points was the best indicator to identify subjects with good respiratory control(sensitivity 76%,specificity 89%,AUC 0.88).Conclusions:(1)The improved Chinese version of TRACK questionnaire has good reliability and validity.(2)The TRACK questionnaire can be applied to the evaluation and monitoring of asthma control in children.
