| Objective To investigate the alteration of serum osteopontin(OPN)levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and its relationship with Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)and other inflammatory markers. Methods Choose 102 patients with newly diagnosed T2DM in Zhangjiagang First People’s Hospital endocrinology between March 2017 and March 2018,including 76 males and 26 females. The youngest age was 19 years, the oldest age was 84 years.According to BMI(Body mass index,BMI),it was divided into three groups,DM normal weight group(18.5 kg/m2≤BMI<24 kg/m2,n=34),DM overweight group(24 kg/m2≤BMI<28 kg/m2,n=34),DM obese group(BMI≥28 kg/m2,n=34).34 age-and sex-matched controls were selected.Detection of serum levels of OPN,TLR4,interleukin-6(IL-6),high sensitivity C reactive protein(hsCRP),fasting blood glucose(FBG),fasting insulin(FINS),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1C),triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),and the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)was calculated.SPSS 23 statistical software was used to process the data and compare the differences of indicators among groups,so as to analyze the correlation between OPN,TLR4,IL-6,hsCRP inflammatory factors and FBG,HbA1C,TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C,BMI,HOMA-IR,Waist circumference(WC).Results The levels of OPN,TLR4,IL-6 and hypersensitive C-reactive protein in the subgroups of T2DM were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Multivariate logistic regression model showed that the risk of T2DM increased with the increase of serum OPN concentration, even if the confounding factors such as obesity index,TLR4,IL-6,hypersensitive C-reactive protein and blood lipid profile were corrected.Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum OPN,TLR4 and other clinical indicators had no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusions Serum OPN concentration increased significantly in patients with T2DM and was associated with the risk of T2DM,but no association was found with inflammatory factors such as TLR4. |
