EMR-based Clinical Research Data Auto-capture Technolongy And System Development

Data capture is a key link in the clinical research process,but currently manual data capture methods are time-consuming and labor-intensive.Electronic medical records(EMR)are one of the main data sources for clinical research.Making full use of EMR to achieve automatic capture of clinical research data can improve the time-consuming and labor-intensive situation of manual capture.However,to achieve automatic capture,a lot of complicated manual configurations are required.Existing solutions have solved the problem by mapping and matching between electronic medical record data model and clinical research data model,but due to the dynamic nature of clinical research data requirements,only small part of requirements are covered.To solve above limitations,this thesis studies the automatic capture technology of clinical research data based on EMR.The automatic data capture technology is applied to the clinical research data management system.In this system,the electronic medical record data is queried and transformed to provide the automatic capture service for clinical research data.The major contents of this thesis are follows:1)The consistent representation method of data models is studied,aiming at the problem that the clinical research data and EMR differ greatly in the data model.We propose clinical research data modeling method based on openEHR,a hierarchical model for EMR.The results of case study show that openEHR can model clinical research data.Based on openEHR,it can achieve consistent representation of data models.Adopting the same openEHR archetypes enables clinical research data elements and electronic medical record data elements to be matched automatically,therefore,reducing the workload of manual configuration.2)Based on the consistent representation of the data model,the automatic capture technology of clinical research data based on EMR was studied.The configurable data query can meet the extraction requirements of clinical research data from EMR.The configurable data conversion method supports the conversion of structured medical record data and information extraction of unstructured medical record text.3)By applying the automatic capture technology of clinical research data based on EMR,a clinical research data management system was developed.The system was applied to the "Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Special Disease Database" project.The results showed that the automatic data capture based on EMR can speed up the progress of data capture and reduce the workload of clinical research staff.The automatic capture technology and system of clinical research data based on EMR studied in this thesis is beneficial to improve the efficiency and quality of clinical scientific research and has high practical value.
