Objective: To compare and analyze the differences of gray matter volume in different parts of the brain of patients with cryptogenic epilepsy and healthy physical examinees are compared and analyze to explore the role of abnormal gray matter volume in the pathogenesis of cryptogenic epilepsy, providing a new idea for the early diagnosis and monitoring of the condition of cryptogenic epilepsy. Methods: A total of 30 cases of adult patients with cryptogenic epilepsy, including 17 males and 13 females, with average age of 39.8±11.6 years, are collected.A total of30 healthy subjects were selected as the control group, including 19 males and 11 females, with an average age of 43.7±13.3 years. Each group met the inclusion criteria and excluded the criteria.Sex,age, type of seizure, age of onset, family history, previous history, history of antiepileptic drugs, head MRI and other data and so on,are recorded. All subjects are subjected to T1 and T2 weighted brain image scanning by using 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging,3D modeling of the interested parts is conducted by using the system software, and volume was measured by using voxel-based morphological measurement(ROI,Region of interest)method.SPSS25.0statistical software can be used for statistical analysis of the obtained data, and the significance level of test is the two-sided test P<0.05.Results:(1)There is no statistically significant for the difference between the left and right ROI volumes of epilepsy and the control group, with the value of p is larger than0.05;(2)There is no significant difference in ROI between the epilepsy group and the control group in terms of gray matter volume and gender, with the value of p is larger than 0.05;(3)The ROI of epilepsy group and control group two groups of gray matter volume of the research results show that each ROI exist different volume group and the control group, the specific situations are as follows:1)compared with control group, the team frontal lobe, temporal lobe, thalamus, the volume of the cerebellum is the control volume are reduced, statistically significant difference(p<0.05);2)the parietal lobe, occipital lobe, caudate nucleus, lentiform nucleus volume difference is not significant statistical significance(p>0.05),and found no team gray matter volume rise in the brain;(4)There is no significant difference in ROI between the seizure types in the epilepsy group, with the value of p is larger than 0.05;(5)The results show that the volume of frontal lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, caudate nucleus, pterygeal nucleus, thalamus and cerebellum of the subjects in the epilepsy group show no significant statistical difference between the two groups with different courses of epilepsy, with the value of p is larger than 0.05.Conclusion:(1)The decrease of gray matter volume was observed in patients of different ages, genders, disease courses and seizure types, suggesting the possibility of neuronal network damage.(2)ROI analysis based on MRI can provide a non-invasive and simple auxiliary means for early diagnosis and condition monitoring of cryptogenic epilepsy.
