Objective:To analyze and compare the changes of pulp activity of jaw cyst adjacent to teeth before and after operation, and the relationship between the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst and the change of pulp activity. Therefore,it can provide a clinical reference for whether the root canal treatment is needed before operation the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth. Methods:Collected from yijishan hospital of wannan medical college from january 2018 to june 2019,fifty patients with cyst of jaw who were admitted to yijishan hospital and operated by the same group of doctors in yijishan hospital. On the CBCT three dimensional scan images, the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst was measured by the measurement software provided by the system.According to the shortest distance,it was divided into two groups: A(0-1mm)and B(1-2mm).Electrical pulp test was used to measure the pulp vitality of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth 3 days before operation and 6 months after curettage. The difference of pulp activity before and after operation was calculated. The relationship between the difference of pulp activity between groups A and B and the shortest distance from the root tip to cyst was analyzed by statistical method. Results: 1.The difference of pulp vitality between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05).According to the test level of a = 0.05,the difference was statistically significant. It can be considered that the difference of pulp activity between group A and group B is different, and the difference of pulp activity in group A was greater than that in group B.2.Linear correlation analysis was used between the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst and the difference of pulp activity measured 3 days before and half a year after the operation. The correlation coefficient was r =-0.3711,and the statistical result was p < 0.01.According to the test level of a = 0.05,the difference was statistically significant. It can be concluded that the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst was negatively correlated with the difference in pulp activity measured 3 days before and half a year after the operation.3.The difference of pulp activity measured before and after operation was more than 20,which was recorded as the significant decrease of pulp activity. The significant decrease rate of pulp activity in group A was higher than that in group B,in maxillary cyst than that in mandibular cyst, and after 50 years old than that before 50 years old.Conclusion:1.When the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst is less than 1.0 mm,the root canal therapy is recommended;2.When the shortest distance from the root tip of the jaw cyst adjacent to teeth to the cyst is between 1-2mm,according to the patient's age and the location of the cyst comprehensive consideration: if the patient's age is more than 50 years old or the location of the cyst is maxillary,it is suggested that the root canal treatment should be performed before the operation.
