Objective: to study clinical assessment of functioning muscle flap transfer to reconstruct extremities. Methods:This was a prospective study of a series of functioning muscle flap transfer of 18 patient, having an average age of 26.9 years(10—48).Among them,10 caces were late brachial plexus injury;2 cases of ischemic muscle contracture,1 case of forearm compression injury,1 case of forearm incomplete dissociation injury, and 4 cases of traumatic biceps injury or defect.all patient underwent functioning muscle flap transfer surgery. Results: all 18 patients were followed up,all of them were male, and the mean follow-up time was 43.2 months(the mean follow-up time of functioning gracilis muscle was 26.9 months, and the mean follow-up time of functioning latissimus dorsi muscle was 67.9 months).Except for one case of functional gracilis muscle necrosis and one case of functional gracilis muscle reconstruction extensor function(follow-up time was 8 months, muscle strength is M0),all the other patients obtained muscle strength above M3.Conclusion: functional muscle transplantation is a reliable method for functional reconstruction of extremities.
