Objective: To investigate the expressions and significance of Caspase-1 and Nucleotide-binding domin-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)in Kimura's disease(KD).Methods: the expressions of Caspase-1 and NLRP3 were immunohistochemically examined in 36 patients with KD and 10 normal controls. The integral absorbance(IA)of the two groups were compared.Meanwhile, clinical data was reviewed, the expression difference of caspase-1 and NLRP3 in each subgroup of clinical indicators were analyzed. Results: The IA of Caspase-1 [M(Q): 1765404(1912926)] and NLRP3 [M(Q): 2675401(2913750)] in KD were significantly higher than those in normal controls [M(Q): 130445(114688),151761(171231),P<0.05].The overexpression of both Caspase-1 and NLRP3 were significantly higher in the high-eosinophils group than those in the low-eosinophils(Z=-2.073,P<0.05;Z=-2.107,P<0.05).Moreover,NLRP3 was highly associated with disease recurrence(Z=-2.162,P<0.05).Associations of the expressions of Caspase-1 and NLRP3 were not found among age, gender, laterality, pruritus, maximum size of mass and multiplicity. Conclusions: Our result show that Caspase-1 and NLRP3 are closely related to the pathogenesis of Kimura's disease. Both Caspase-1 and NLRP3 are involved in the recruitment of eosinophils, while NLRP3 is related to the recurrence of Kimura disease.
