ObjectiveMRI was used to evaluate the abnormalities of vertebral-basilar artery in patients with posterior circulation ischemia(PCI).Materials and MethodsThe morphological and positional expressions of vertebral-basilar artery were observed in MRI and MRA of 1170 patients with posterior circulation ischemia. The relationship between basilar artery tortuosity and dominant vertebral artery was analyzed. The vertebral basilar artery torture and dominant vertebral artery and posterior circulation ischemia was analyzed.Results1.There is a statistical significance between the dominant vertebral artery and basilar artery tortuosity(?2=6.19,P<0.05),and the basal arterial course is in the opposite direction of the dominant vertebral artery.2.The thickness of the vertebral artery is closely related to the basilar artery tortuosity(?2=69.489,P=0.000)and is closely related(correlation coefficient r = 0.97,P<0.001).The larger the diameter of the vertebral artery, the greater the diameter of the basilar artery and the greater the curvature of the basilar artery, the difference in statistical significance(P<0.05).3.There was a significant difference in the incidence of posterior circulation ischemia between the basilar artery and basilar artery tortuosity(?2=265.54,P=0.000).There was a significant difference in the incidence of posterior circulation infarction between the dominant arterial group and the vertebral artery of equipotential group(?2=61.88,P=0.000).4.The specific part of the posterior cerebral infarction occurred mainly before the vertebral artery was connected to the non-dominant vertebral artery and connected to the basilar artery after the contralateral.Conclusion1.The incidence of the left vertebral artery crossing the middle line is significantly higher than that of the right vertebral artery. The larger the diameter of the vertebral artery, the greater the diameter of the basal artery and the greater the curvature of the basal artery. The direction of the basilar artery tortuosity and the dominant vertebral artery in the opposite direction,Vertebral artery dominance may make basilar artery bend to the side of non dominant Venebral artery. The vertebral artery diameter differences have a correlation with severity of basilar artery tortuosity. The dominance of vertebral artery is the risk factor of vertebral-basilar artery tortuosity.2.Basilar arterial tortuosity and vertebral artery superiority are closely related to the infarct of specific parts of the posterior circulation of the brain. The infarct mainly occurs before the vertebral artery is connected to the non-dominant vertebral artery and the basilar artery is curved on the contralateral side. The pontine infarction often occurs on the basal Arterial curvature of the contralateral, and posterior inferior cerebellar artery territory infarction was mostly in the same side of the non-dominant vertebral artery.
