Objective:The purpose of this paper is to investigate the cognitive level of obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)among some medical staff in Kunming, and to analyze the factors that may affect the awareness of OSA among medical staff. The diagnosis and treatment and standardized management provide the basis for clinical medical personnel to carry out OSA continuing education.Methods:1 Obstructive Sleep Apnea Knowledge and Attitudes Questionnaire(OSAKA)was used to treat the respiratory medicine, otolaryngology, cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, neurology, and anesthesiology of 6 different hospitals in Kunming.Questionnaire survey requires 10-15 minutes to recover. The content of the survey includes:1.1 General conditions include gender, age, education, hospital, department, professional technical title, and practice time.1.2 The OSA Knowledge Questionnaire includes 18 items in OSAKA.The survey covers five aspects of epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of OSA.The correct rate of the questionnaire is used as the basis for the evaluation of the cognitive level.1.3 Five items of the OSA Attitude Questionnaire,in which two items were evaluated for the importance of OSA and three items for the evaluation of the diagnosis of OS A patients.2 After reviewing the original questionnaire,we used the Epidata3.1aging test for dual-core entry.Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze the knowledge of OSA related knowledge of medical staff. The measurement data was represented by x±S,and the count data was represented by the composition ratio.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS21.0.The difference between the test levels a=0.05 and P<0.05 was statistically significant.Results:1 Demographic CharacteristicsIn this survey,963 out of 6 different levels of medical staff in Kunming were issued, and 918 valid questionnaires were collected(effective rate was 95.32%).Among the medical staff surveyed, there were 374 males(40.74%)and 544 females(59.26%).The age ranged from 24-58 years(mean 35.38±8.41 years old),399(43.46%)undergraduate education and below, and 519(56.54%)from master's degree and above. There are 373 junior titles(40.63%),246(26.80%)with intermediate titles, and 299(32.57%)with senior titles.Practice time is 1-32 years(average 11.50±8.28 years).Respiratory medicine is about 171(18.63%),cardiovascular medicine is about 196(21.35%),otolaryngology is about 120(13.07%),endocrinology is about 132(14.38%),neurology is about 129(14.05%)and anesthesiology is about 170(18.52%).There are also have 181 county-level hospitals(19.72%),337 municipal hospitals(36.71%)and provincial hospitals 400(43.57%)in the survey.2 Analysis of Medical Staffs Knowledge of OSA Related Knowledge and related Influencing FactorsThe overall scores of 18 knowledge items of OSA for all medical staff in Kunming City were 12.00±2.31.After the comparison, the scores of otolaryngology medical stafF were significantly higher than other departments. The 18 related knowledge items included five aspects. The average correct rate of epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment related knowledge of medical staff was 0.68±0.19,0.75±0.31,0.61±0.41,0.71±0.26,0.60±0.25.Among them, medical personnel have a comprehensive understanding of the pathogenesis of OSA.The knowledge about OSA treatment is limited. The total correct rate of 18 knowledge items were different from those of academic qualifications(all P<0.05).Analysis of variance showed that the average total correct rate of 18 knowledge items of medical staff with different technical titles was 0.65±0.13(primary title),0.67±0.12(intermediate title),and 0.69±0.13(higher title). The difference was statistically significant(P=0.0018).The total correct rate of 18 knowledge items and the average correct rate of epidemiological knowledge of medical staff were linearly positively correlated with the age of medical staff and practice time.3 Self-assessment of the importance of OSA and confidence in medical treatment and analysis of related influencing factorsMore than half of the medical staff believe that OSA is important as a clinical disease(important, very important, extremely important,).More than three-quarters of respondents believe that it is important to identify patients with OSA(important, very important, and extremely important).Only about 21.24%of medical staff is confident in diagnosing patients with OSA.And only 16.12%of medical staff confident in the treatment of OSA patients, and 16.99%of medical staff were confident in the ability to properly treat OSA patients receiving CAPA.The overall assessment score(item 19+20+21+22+23)was correlated with the age of the medical staff(r-0.1118,P=0.0007).The overall evaluation scores for the importance of OSA and confidence in diagnosis and treatment were statistically significant at different hospital levels(F=218.66,P=0.0000)and different technical titles(F=3.83,P=0.0220).The overall evaluation score of the hospital is higher. The overall assessment scores for the importance of OSA and confidence in diagnosis and treatment were statistically significant between different academic qualifications(t=13.33,P=0.0000).There was no statistically significant difference in the overall assessment scores for OSA importance and confidence in treatment(t=1.4044,P=0.1605).4 Correlation analysis between the correct rate and self-assessment of OSA related knowledge items of medical staff in KunmingPearson correlation analysis was performed on the average correct rate of 18 related knowledge items and the self-assessment scores of medical staff on the importance of OSA and confidence in diagnosis and treatment. It was found that all the knowledge items of medical staff responded correctly with the medical staffs understanding of the importance of OSA disease(r=0.2076,P=0.0000)and the increase in self-confidence assessment(r=0.1700,P=0.0000)increased.The correct rate of response for all knowledge items of medical staff was linearly positively correlated with the overall self-assessment of OSA importance and attitude(r=0.1974,P=0.0000).Conclusions:1 Medical staff has certain understanding of OSA related knowledge, high degree of knowledge about the pathogenesis and low mastery of treatment-related knowledge.Among the departments, the otolaryngology medical staff has a more comprehensive knowledge of OSA.2 Medical staff has no significant correlation with the correct rate of response to OSA related knowledge items and gender. If medical staff is older or has a longer practice time and a higher degree of education,a higher professional title as well as a higher hospital level, the OSA-related knowledge will has a higher correct answer rate.3 The medical staff of different levels of hospitals has different importance to the importance of OSA disease and confidence in diagnosis and treatment. With the increase of the level of hospitals at the county, city and provincial levels, medical personnel have increased their awareness of the importance of OSA and have more confidence in the diagnosis and treatment of OSA.4 The correct rate of response to OSA knowledge of medical staff increases with the recognition of the importance of OSA disease and the self-assessment of confidence in diagnosis and treatment.
