Purpose:This study used retrospective analysis to compare the curative effects of two commonly used surgical treatments, including trigeminal nerve microvascular decompression and percutaneous puncture balloon compression,in order to find the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods, which can better choose treatment for patients method.Method:A retrospective analysis of 76 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia in our hospital for neurological surgery,40 patients with MVD(MVD group),36 patients with PBC(PBC group).Comparisons were made from postoperative complications, immediate pain relief rates, and long-term effectiveness.Results:Thirty-seven patients in the MVD group had no pain after surgery(92.50%),and 34 patients in the PBC group had no pain after surgery(94.44%).Long-term postoperative pain was effectively relieved in 35 patients in the MVD group(87.50%),and in 26 patients in the PBC group(72.22%).There were 2 cases of recurrence in the MVD group(5.00%)and 8 cases in the PBC group(22.22%).The difference in the recurrence rate between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).Facial numbness(12.50% in MVD group vs.52.78% in PBC group,P <0.05),masseter muscle weakness(5% in MVD group vs.33.33% in PBC group,P <0.05),herpes zoster(2.5% in MVD group vs 13.89% in PBC group,P> 0.05).The average length of stay in the PBC group(4.9?0.7)days,the average length of stay in the MVD group(12.4?1.6),the difference between the two is obvious,P <0.0001;the hospitalization cost of the PBC group(14933?794.6)?,MVD group(25306?3638.2)?,the difference between the two is significantly different,P <0.0001.Conclusion:1.Both MVD and PBC can effectively relieve primary trigeminal neuralgia2.PBC has a higher recurrence rate than MVD.Overall, the incidence of postoperative complications of MVD is lower than PBC,which can be used as the first choice for most patients with trigeminal neuralgia.3.The length of stay and cost of hospitalization in the PBC group were significantly better than those in the MVD group...
