Objective:To analysis the correlation between collateral circulation and cognitive function of patients with occlusion or severe stenosis of unilateral internal carotid artery. Methods:This research has collected information of 18 patients with occlusion or severe stenosis of unilateral internal artery and grew collateral circulation on the same side, which is revealed in digital subtraction angiography(DSA)from Jan.1th,2019 to Dec.31 th,2019 at the Neurology Department,First Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, then divide them into symptomatic group with good collateral circulation 3cases,symptomatic group with non-good collateral circulation 6 cases,symptom-free group with good collateral circulation 4 cases and symptom-free group with non-good collateral circulation 5 case by assessing their neurology function with Modified Ranking Scale(MRS)and National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)and evaluating their collateral circulation with ASITN/SIR,then evaluate their cognitive function with Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCa)and Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)separately,at last analyse whether there is any statistical difference of cognitive function between every good collateral circulation group and non-good collateral circulation group in symptomatic group and symptom-free group. Results: Comparing the MoCa and MMSE of good collateral circulation group with non-good collateral circulation group from symptom-free group,P>0.05,the difference was not statistically significant.Comparing the MoCa and MMSE of good collateral circulation group with non-good collateral circulation group from symptomatic group,P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant and the MoCa and MMSE of good collateral circulation group are higher than non-good collateral circulation group. Conclusion: Collateral circulation has non effect on the cognitivefunction of symptom-free patients with occlusion or severe stenosis of unilateral internal carotid artery. But for symptomatic patients, collateral circulation is a protective factor.
