Objective: The aim was to explore the correlation between serum chemokine levels and carotid atherosclerosis in middle-aged and elderly patients with essential hypertension. Methods: 200 patients who were hospitalized in the Department of Comprehensive Internal Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from December 2018 to December 2019 were included in the study(age > 50 years old),and the "Chinese Hypertension Prevention and Control Guidelines 2018 Revision" was used as the diagnostic criteria,Including 150 patients who had previously been diagnosed with essential hypertension or whose blood pressure met the diagnostic criteria for essential hypertension after the completion of the admission and related examinations, and measured the carotid intima-media thickness(IMT).It was divided into 50 cases of normal group with hypertension combined with carotid IMT and 100 cases with hypertension combined with carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)group;no previous history of hypertension and current blood pressure did not meet the diagnostic criteria for primary hypertension.Carotid IMT 50 normal patients(control group);collected general data, biochemical indicators, fasting cubital venous blood, and detected serum chemokine levels. The general biochemical indicators such as age, sex, body mass index, uric acid, and blood lipids were compared among the three groups, and the correlation between serum chemokine levels and carotid atherosclerosis was analyzed.Result:(1)The level of serum chemokine in the group with hypertension and carotid atherosclerosis was higher than that in the group with hypertension and normal carotid endometrium.Statistical significance(P<0.05).(2)The gender, age, drinking history, smoking history, diabetes history and coronary heart disease history among the three groups were not statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)The ROC curve shows that chemokine has predictive ability for carotid atherosclerosis, the difference is statistically significant(P <0.05),the best cut-off value is67.19,chemokine ?67.19ng/L,uric acid Systolic blood pressure and low-density lipoprotein have an impact on patients' carotid atherosclerosis, and are both risk factors. Conclusion: Serum chemokine level is related to the occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis in middle-aged and elderly patients with essential hypertension.Serum chemokine level can be used as one of the risk factors for carotid atherosclerosis.
