BackgroundsThe incidence of reflux esophagitis is higher in western countries, due to changes in lifestyles and the improvement of medical standards, there is an upward trend in incidence in Asia in recent years, and symptoms become more and more obvious.Long-term exposure of reflux liquid in lower esophageal of reflux esophagitis patients can cause Barrett esophagus, which can increase the risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma,so RE has been attached more importance by domestic and foreign scholars.Currently,it is thought that reflux esophagitis is associated with a variety of factors, including age, gender, metabolic syndrome, living habits, heavy manual labor, constipation, psychological factors and so on.Therefore a better understanding of the associated risk factors and clinical features can help us to do better prevention and treatment jobs.ObjectivesTo analyze detection rate, composition ratio, gender distribution, onset age of reflux esophagitis and its relationship with such factors as helicobacter pylori infection,as well as hiatus hernia,to explore characteristics of reflux esophagitis in this city.MethodsA total of 10901 patients examined by gastroscopy are collected in the affiliated hospital between April 2013 and December 2013.There are 695 cases diagnosed by primary reflux esophagitis, and 646 cases of reflux esophagitis patients are enrolled in the study by deleting the cases without comprehensive information, and those who did examined repeatedly in one year are calculated once, professional doctors did statistical processing mainly according to the endoscopic diagnosis.General projects of the cases should be studied including names, genders, ages, addresses, the initial diagnosed time, doctors, manifestation under endoscopy, endoscopic diagnosis, pathological results and HP infection status, etc.According to the standard grading of Los Angeles, they are divided into six age groups: <30,31~39,40~49,50~59,60~69,≥70,reflux esophagitis is retrospectively analyzed to discuss the relationships of reflux esophagitis with gender, age,HP infection, hiatus hernia,Barrett esophagus and other related factors.Applicate SPSS22.0 for Statistical analysis, and use chi-square analysis for count data,t-test for measurement data, using analysis of variance for comparison between multiple sets of measurement data, using the LSD method for mean two comparison,chi-square test for comparison between count data, nonparametric test for comparison of RE classification level data. The difference was statistically significant with bilateral test P<0.05.Results1.RE detection rate is 6.38%,and patients older than 40 account for the majority of RE,which is mainly consisted of male patients.2.The mean age is 53.53±12.61,the average age of the males is lower than that of the females.3.LA-B accounts for the most number in RE,which is mainly consisted of mild patients, whose average age is lower than that of the severe patients.4.The helicobacter pylori infection rate of reflux esophagitis patients is lower than that of the whole group, who were tested by gastroscopy in the same period(P=0.000).There is no difference in HP infection between the males and females. There is no relationship of HP infection with the severity of reflux esophagitis(P=0.93).5.The detection rate of EHH among all the grades in RE is significantly different.6.The average age of reflux esophagitis with Barrett esophagus or esophageal hiatal hernia is higher than the simple reflux esophagitis(P<0.01).Conclusions1.There are more patients older than 40 and mainly LA-B patients in RE.2.There are more male patients, whose onset age is lower than that of the females,so gender could be an independent risk factor of the reflux esophagitis.3.HP infection rate is lower in RE patients, and HP infection has nothing to do with gender and the severity of RE.4.Advanced age is a risk factor for severe RE,EHH,and also Barrett’s esophagus, however, the inflammation of esophagus is heavier than that of patients with EHH.
