Objective: To investigate the correlation of the optic disc parameters,Disc Damage Likelihood Scale(DDLS)stage and visual field defects for primary glaucoma diagnosis. Methods: This study comprised 240 eyes from 144 patients. The patients were categorized as acute primary angle-closure glaucoma(APACG),chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma(CPACG),primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)and normal tension glaucoma(NTG).VK-2WX software was performed to acquire both an optic nerve head analysis and a DDLS stage. All eyes were detected by OCTOPUS-900 perimetry to obtain visual field defects parameters. The relationships of optic disc parameters,DDLS stage and visual field defects were analysed using Pearson correlation analysis. Results: DDLS stage, vertical cup disc ratio, cup disc area ratio, rim width, rim area and rim disc area ratio all had significant correlation with visual field defects parameters(mean sensitivity MS,mean deviation MD,square root of LossVariance sLV).They had prominent correlation with MD.The optic disc parameters and the DDLS stage in CPACG eyes had the closest correlation with visual field among all groups. Conclusion: The optic disc parameters(rim disc area ratio, cup disc area ratio in especial)and DDLS stage are useful reference in the diagnosis of primary glaucoma, with significant correlation of visual field defects(MD in especial)as well as optic disc damage.
