Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the sleep status in patients with migraine as well as to investigate the effect of insomnia on migraineurs who with anxiety and depressive disorder, which may provide more evidence and strategies for the prevention and treatment of migraine and comorbidities. Methods: The study carried out in Renji hospital from May to October in 2016 among Neurology outpatients. The patients were divided into two groups.Research group included the migraineurs with anxiety and /or depressive disorders.Control group included the migraineurs without anxiety and depressive disorder. The participants completed a Insomnia Severity Index(ISI),Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9),and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS).After collecting and sorting data,SPSS21.0 software package was used for statistical description and analysis. Results: One hundred and thirty migraine patients met the criteria and took part in the study.Among them,41.5% had anxiety symptom,38.4% had depressive symptom, and 13.8% had comorbid anxiety and depression.Also,36.2% had insomnia.Accordingly,86 participants in the research group(51 females,35 males, the ratio of male to female is 1:1.45)with average age of 37.58±11.71 years old(ranging from 18 to 65 years old),44 participants in the control group(26 females,18 males, the ratio of male to female is 1:1.44)with average age of 36.95±11.65 years old(ranging from 19 to 62 years old). There was no statistically significant difference in the gender ratios and mean age between two groups(P>0.05).The prevalence of insomnia in research group was apparently higher than that in the control group(45.3 vs.18.2%,P<0.05).In the research group, patients with insomnia had significantly greater severities of anxiety compared with patients without insomnia, especiallyamong patients with moderate-severe and severe insomnia(P<0.001).Nevertheless,there was no significant correlation between ISI scores and PHQ-9 scores(P>0.05).Conclusion: The prevalence of insomnia in migraineurs comorbid anxiety and /or depression was higher than that in migraineurs without anxiety and/or depression.Moreover,moderate-severe and severe insomnia can aggravate the severities of anxiety in migraineurs.
