Purpose Based on the use of the home medicine chest, this paper extensively studied the behavior of family members, such as medicine preparation and taking medicine, and then redefined the function of the household medicine chest in order to develop a perfect central medicine management system at home, which could guide the users to purchase, store, take and recycle drugs.Method By comparing the background of the domestic and international drug recycling policies, the development status of each sector in the medical service industry was sorted out,and the positioning of drug management were discussed by considering the current development trend of intelligent medical devices.By sorting out the current residents' drug use environment and service background(including diagnosis, drug purchase, delivery, storage, and medication and treatment of expired drug),the study also offered in-depth analysis of household drug use behavior, and clarified the medication cases at home and actual demand. The results of the study helped redefine the functions of the home medicine chest so as to construct a service system for home medicine management. Conclusion Recycling of household expired medicine relies mainly on the strength of private enterprises. The current conditions of recycling are limited, and the experience of recycling process is poor.Medication patterns of family members are related to the structure of family members especially when some members are with chronic disease. At the same time, the medication behavior of family member usually meets the following challenges:excessive purchase, difficult drug verification, lengthy procedure, and forget to purchase, which becomes the troublesome issues during drug purchase. In the storage phase, the common drugs are usually mixed, sealed or unsealed drugs are separated and some drugs are stored in fixed place while others are stored randomly. This calls for convenient, simple and efficient management in the storage phase.Wrong medication, inconvenience in finding appropriate drug, complicate medication instruction, and forgetting to take medicines are bothering the users, which calls for easy,timely,risk-free,and less-trouble management in the medication period. In the drug renewal period, problems such as leftover of expired drugs and no recycling channel for expired drugs are quite obvious, which need us to improve our social services. Therefore, the study summarized the psychological demand and critical issues of family members in a series of situations where they purchase, store, take, and clean up drugs in their daily lives. This would help us to understand the specific situations and what they need psychologically for household medication so as to conduct systematic research and design.Household drug management center was designed with convenient drug services in hospital and community as the added value to the management system. Then the system was improved upon principle of efficiency. As a way to refine the current household medication management,it was designed with the following features:1.To utilize the characteristics of fixed placement of home medication and abandon the concept of home medication storage in a "box" for portability, the drug storage method boundaries became soft thus home medication could be stored in any fixed storage space that meets drug storage conditions.2.Drug shall follow terminal to track consumption, which helps us to obtain feedback on drug consumption statistics and dosing information through simple interaction.3.Intelligent functions such as smart speakers shall be included to expand intelligent scenarios of home medication thus creating a more convenient and efficient home medication experience.
